Here's a list of events I'm hosting at the 2010

in San Diego, July 22-25

Thursday, July 22

I'm not moderating it but I'll be appearing on a panel called
Cuckoo Nest Films: Hoohah!  Heroes Behind the Heroes, previewing
a great new documentary on comic books and the people who make them.
It's in Room 6A from 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM.

11:45 AM - 12:45 PM / Room 6BCF
SPOTLIGHT ON STAN AND HUNTER FREBERG

Continued from their SRO appearance last year! STAN FREBERG was a cartoon voice superstar, a best-selling creator of comedy records and the father of the funny commercial.  He and his spouse HUNTER FREBERG discuss his work, her work, their work and all things Frebergian.

2:30 PM - 3:30 PM / Room 8
THE SERGIO AND MARK SHOW

We do one of these every year.  SERGIO ARAGONES, MARK EVANIER, STAN SAKAI and TOM LUTH show up and talk about what's up with their various projects, especially Groo the Wanderer...and this year, we even have actual issues of Groo about to come out!

Friday, July 23

Not doin' nothin' today.  I'll probably be roaming the convention
aimlessly, wandering in and out of Mens' Rooms, trying to
pretend there's a panel in progress and I'm moderating it.

Saturday, July 24

12:30 PM - 1:45 PM / Room 6BCF
QUICK DRAW!

Once again, three cartoonists duel to the death armed with nothing more than paper, markers and their (un)natural wits.  Who will emerge alive, let alone victorious?  Competing are SERGIO ARAGONES, SCOTT SHAW! and illustrator WILLIAM STOUT.  As always, there will be no wagering allowed.

1:45 PM - 3:15 PM / Room 6BCF
CARTOON VOICE ACTORS I

It's the fine art of speaking for animated characters...with APRIL WINCHELL (Phineas & Ferb), CANDI MILO (Jimmy Neutron) Replacements), TOM KANE (Star Wars: Clone Wars), GREGG BERGER (The Garfield Show), CHUCK McCANN (Duck Tales), JASON MARSDEN (Teen Titans) and a few surprises.

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM / Room 8
TAKING BACK THE KNIGHT: BATMAN IN THE 70s

How did the Caped Crusader survive the post-sixties era of camp?  He was rescued by a team of talented creators who returned him to his roots, giving him a makeover that redefined him forever.  Discussing that rescue will be writer DENNY O'NEIL, artist NEAL ADAMS and DC editor-publisher PAUL LEVITZ.

7:30 PM - 8:30 PM / Room 4
REMEMBERING DICK GIORDANO

Pause to pay tribute to a much-beloved editor, artist, executive and gentleman.  No one did more to change comics and help new talent than the late DICK GIORDANO.  A bevy of his friends and colleagues including DENNY O'NEIL and PAUL LEVITZ will try to find the words.

From 8:30 to 10:30 in Room 6BCF, there'll be the premiere of a new
documentary, WITH GREAT POWER: THE STAN LEE STORY.
It'll be followed by a panel with Stan and several folks who appear in
this documentary, including me.

Sunday, July 25

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM / Room 4
THE ANNUAL JACK KIRBY TRIBUTE PANEL
As we do each year, the family, friends and fans of the late "King of the Comics" gather to discuss his legacy.  With writers KURT BUSIEK (Astro City) and MARV WOLFMAN (Teen Titans), publisher NICK BARUCCI, Kirby Family Lawyer PAUL S. LEVINE and others who knew and worked with Jack.

11:15 PM - 12:30 PM / Room 6A
CARTOON VOICE ACTORS II
Another demo of the art of speaking for animation...with PHIL LaMARR (Futurama), JANET WALDO (The Jetsons), LAURA SUMMER (The Garfield Show), BRIAN CUMMINGS (The Wuzzles), DAN GILVEZAN (Spider-Man) and one more person who still has to get back to me.

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM / Room 25ABC
COVER STORY: THE ART OF THE COVER
What does it take to make a great comic book cover?  We'll ask NEAL ADAMS (Batman, Green Lantern/Green Arrow), DAVE DORMAN (Star Wars), SEAN PHILLIPS (Criminal, Incognito) and IVAN REIS (Blackest Night, Green Lantern) and look at samples of their efforts.

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM / Room 25ABC
THE BUSINESS OF CARTOON VOICES
Lots of people think they can do them...but how does one go about making a living as a voiceover actor?  Come hear a panel of agents, casting directors and performers to explain all about agents, casting directors, demos, classes, what to do and (most important) what not to do.

Changes of time, place and program are rare but possible.
Check my weblog, consult your convention schedule and keep
an eye out for last-minute announcements posted around the hall.
